Our Research
We welcome collaboration with researchers in the field of psychedelic science.
In our commitment to advancing knowledge and understanding, we are open to sharing anonymised participant data to contribute to the growth of this vital field.
We are particularly interested in furthering psychedelic research in the psychotherapeutic and psycho-spiritual space and would be keen to discuss how we can help you in your work.
If you are a researcher in the field of psychedelics, mental health or any other psychedelic niche in which you think we could assist, please reach out to explore potential collaborations and our willing contributions to the advancement of psychedelic science.
Exploring the Frontiers of Psychedelic Science
We have a keen interest in the scientific exploration of psychedelics, particularly concerning numinous, transpersonal experiences, and their application in psychotherapy. Periodically, we’ll highlight noteworthy research papers in these fields. To stay informed, please subscribe to our newsletter.
Research Opportunities
We operate legal psilocybin retreats, and our team is accessible for in-depth research throughout the entire retreat process – before, during, and after. Instead of just relying on post-retreat, self-reported data, we offer a more comprehensive insight.
Recognising the significance of studying retreat participants at various stages, we offer access before, during, and after their psychedelic journeys. This may provide a holistic view, capturing the evolution of participants’ experiences and insights.
We are open to both qualitative and quantitative research methods, understanding that combining both can yield a rich tapestry of data. We aim to foster deeper insights, ensuring that our retreats remain transformative and contribute to the broader scientific discourse.
Numinous Ways consists of seasoned mental health experts, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, and Counsellors. Some of our team members are keen to participate in research endeavours and partner with research institutions. Reach out to us for details or to explore potential collaborations.
Many members of the psychedelic community, and Numinous Ways members in particular, are very open and willing to speak with researchers to contribute to the advancement of psychedelic science and knowledge.
Psychedelic Research Opportunities for Students
If you’re pursuing a Masters or PhD in neuroscience, psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry, or a related discipline and are passionate about psychedelic research and facilitation, particularly in transpersonal experiences, we invite you to connect with us.
Numinous Ways is not only eager to support your academic pursuits, but we can also assist you in launching a campaign to back your research.
This will enable you to find participants and secure donations to defray your research expenses.

Principal investigator:
Sophie Sarrassat
About the researcher:
Sophie is an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist (University of East London, PGDip/MA) & Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) practitioner (UK IFS institute, Levels 1 & 2). This qualitative research study was self-funded and part of her MA curriculum in Applied Psychology Research at the University of East London.
Read more about her here.
Affiliation:
University of East London, UK
Research objective:
To understand, in greater depth, the extent to which the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of psychotherapy can support clients in the “integration” of their psychedelic experiences (term typically used to describe the period following a psychedelic experience). Ultimately, it is hoped that findings of this research shed light on how the IFS model of therapy can help to maximise benefits and minimise harms from psychedelic experiences.
